Iu Mien in America (IMA) , Iu Mien American National Coalition (IMANC) and Iu Mien Sports Academics Excellence (IMSAE) supports and promotes higher education within the Mien communities in the United States by offering scholarship opportunities to students while preserving the Mien heritage.

Eligibility Requirements:
A currently High School Senior graduating in 2019
Must be of Iu Mien descent
Must maintain at least a 2.5 GPA
Must be enrolled in full time in an accredited college/university by the 2019-2020 academic year.
Must be able to write an essay in English (min of 600 max of 1000 words, double spaced)
Must provide a minimum of 2 Max 3 letters of recommendation from school staff or teachers
Must have a current Google account to upload documents to this scholarship application in PDF or JPEG format (High School Transcript, College Transcript if taking college courses, essay, and at least 2 letters of recommendation accept)

There will be an event to honor the recipients of the scholarships on Saturday, June 22nd, 2019 at Holiday Villa 7007 South Land Park Dr, Sacramento, CA 95831. We would like for all recipients to be at this event.

A total of 7 scholarships will be awarded this year. Two of the scholarships will be awarded by IMSAE at the scholarship ceremony. One scholarship will be sponsored by the Lions Clubs International District 4-C5, this scholarship will be awarded to a resident of the greater Sacramento area. To be considered for a scholarship, you must submit this scholarship application form before June 9th, 2019 11:59PM PST

During this application process you will be asked to upload an essay the essay should be based on the following:

1. Service: List the community and/or campus service activities you have participated in while a student. For each activity, include your role, responsibilities, years of involvement, and approximate number of hours invested per quarter/ semester.

2. Leadership: Describe the service project that best highlights your leadership skills, including your ability to initiate and implement a project.

3. Impact: What kind of impact has your service made in the Mien community and/or on campus? Please be specific and use quantitative data if possible.

4. Commitment: What issue(s) does your service address and why did you choose to get involved in this particular area of need in the Mien Community?

For the IMSAE portion please be prepared to answer the following:

What does it mean to be a good student on the field, in the classroom and in the community?

Please define what it means to be a good teammate

Describe a moment of sportsmanship

Describe your most meaningful achievement and how it relates to your field of study and your future goals
